Murlough Bay & Fair Head

Another from Saturday morning, this time with my back to the rising sun, and shooting towards Fair Head.

richiehatchMemberAbsolutely stunning Steve. Really nice layering and colours. Exposure timing is great too. Is it filtered or anything…? Lee grads…?
Richie
StevenHannaMemberThanks Richie.
I used a circ polarisor & Z-PRO NDx8 grad angled as best I could trying not to cover the cliff.Steven
BrickeeParticipantBrian_CParticipantBloody hell Steven, this is like sunrise porn of late. Another cracken shot.
Your Canon is full-frame right? I’ve noted something beautiful about the colours produced by Canon’s, or maybe it’s the way they’ve been processed but yourself and SD’s colours I just can’t get using me Sony A100. Maybe it’s the lens or filters or sometha’ but they’re just class.
Class.
lousyParticipantirishshaguaParticipantBeautiful pic. The colours and wispy water look great (something I rarely think about that wispy water thingy). The only thing I think is that the jut of land in the background (Fair Head I think you called it) seems to be looking for a landscape format. This is only my thoughts though. Really great shot
Brian
StevenHannaMemberThanks everyone.
Brian C – my 1D isn’t full frame sadly, it’s a 1.3x. Not sure what Steve’s is?
Brian – yes, I agree, I have a landscape version which I’ll try and post shortly.Steven
petercoxMemberSteve,
I like this one a lot, although something doesn’t sit quite right with me. I asked my wife what she thought, and she said it looked like ‘two photographs smooshed into one’, and I think she nailed it.The bottom half is fantastic. The texture and colour of the rocks is wonderful, and the top half suffers by comparison. The transition between the two is very abrupt, and I think that’s the issue.
Don’t get me wrong – it’s a lovely image overall and, to be honest, I don’t know what you could have done differently to merge the two halves more seamlessly. Perhaps getting right down among the rocks for a much more low-angle view? That would merge the rocks a bit with Fair Head in the background, although you might end up with a sopping wet camera…
Cheers,
Peter
