Now I have your attention  I’m looking for a bit of advice. I’m doing a photography course at the moment and I have a long shopping list for all the equipment I’d like to have.
I was just wondering if anyone could help me arrange my list in some order of importance. I’d like to get into landscape, bike racing photography and I have 3 weddings coming up this year, i’m not the tog but I’d like to get a few nice pictures all the same.
My gear presently consists of .. not much. I have a Canon 30D, 18-55mm kit lens and 70-200 f2.8.My shopping list on the other hand is;
battery grip, flashgun,
lenses 10-22mm, 50mm, 24-105mm, 300mm f4,
tripod & head,
A4 printer, 20″ SIPS screen, Elements 6, monitor calibrator …
and a pocket camera to carry everywhere ….What order would everyone recommend ?
Pls note, I didn’t win the lotto. I’ll be saving for all of these :) [/i]paulParticipantAh come on … buy them all. That’s what credit cards are for. :D
Ok, for me … 24-105 then 50mm then 10-22mm, and finally the 300mm
Battery grip would be high on my list or other items.
steelydanParticipantTripod and Head first off…..No point hand holding those all important shots and loosing out on some keepers. Get a remote switch also.
Secondly depends what you want to shoot,if its landscapes 10-22. if its portraits then Flash + 24-105 and if you intend to do some serious shooting then the battery pack. You could do with some extra batteries also. The ones for the 30D can be had for £9.99 for 2 at http://www.7dayshop.com they are not the canon brand but I find they hold power way longer than the canon’s.
Heres the link to the batteries http://www.7dayshop.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=100915
Also you will need a backpack or bag to carry it all.
Hope that helps
AllinthemindParticipantFlash . You need to be able to balance contrast on the people/wedding shots (even landscapes if approppriate.
Tripod
24-105 lens
50mm (just because tey are cheap and great for indoor/lowlight work)Si
tribalwingsMemberThanks lads, all sound advice.
Paul: I think the poor credit card is still in the freezer since xmas … the missus can shop 4 Ireland
Steelydan: I was thinking about the Lowepro 300 sling bag just to carry a few bits in. I don’t intend on hawking everything round at the same time. With these 3 weddings and the bike racing starting back in April I think the battery pack might be high on the list.
Allinthemind: would the 430 flashgun be ok to use at the likes of weddings, etc ?AllinthemindParticipanttribalwingsMemberIs there really that much difference between the 430 and the 580 ?
I don’t know anyting about flash photography
