Sorry it’s been so long….

De-aRtParticipant
Been a long time since we’ve been on the site, family commitments and all that! I’m sure anyone with young kids will understand.
Here are a couple of reasonably new ones we’ve done – on a couple of rare occassions that we managed to combine a family picnic with some photography!
Hope you like them and as usual c + c very welcome and appreciated
Lake at Castlewellan Forest Park (from top end)
spudMemberi love the first one but the second one seems to have a lil orange tint in it but other than that is a nice shot too
sean1098MemberDe-aRtParticipantThanks for the comments folks – that’s great, one for me and one for Dee! Keeps us both happy!
Must have been the light on the day of the second as other images taken on the same day have the same sort of “look” to them. The first was taken in January and the second in the autumn of 07 on two completely different days weather-wise.
Here’s another from the same visirt as the second shot …
spudMembercould be a nice spot ona good day there,
looks like you used ahigh iso on that because it looks grainy. and a lil under exposed. granted im no expert bt im picking it up as i go :)
De-aRtParticipantYes I’m afraid the technician had the day off (that’ll be Ron then!). Accidently left camera on ISO800 after chasing squirrel shots in the shade of the forests trees!
However, and this could start a debate or three, we feel it isn’t a cardinal sin to have a bit of noise (or grain in film) in a shot as long as the image has artistic merit due to the compostion, lighting etc. Granted, it could be improved if it was run through a noise reduction program but unfortunately we don’t always have enough time to go to that degree of post production.
It goes without saying that we now check the ISO before setting out on a trip and make sure it is at what we need for the type of shooting we intend to be doing.
Again many thanks for taking the time to look and comment and please don’t think were throwing a petulant strop – we just wanted to explain why we think the image has merit even if it isn’t technically “perfect”.
spudMemberlol ive dont it myself often for got to fix the iso and messup a shot but if iots the effect your looking for then you got it.
