Frosty River Boyne and Cable Bridge
-
MartinParticipant
Was heading up to the Mourne Mountains this morning hill walking and drove by this scene. Was magical
Didn’t have any grads with me and was not able to capture this correctly unfortunately. The pic really needs a soft .3 or .6 grad going from right to left to capture it correctly and allow me to post process it properly. Missed opportunity, im kicking myself ……….
Alan RossiterParticipantKick yourself all you like Martin, there’s feck all wrong with that!
Alan
nfl-fanParticipantDon’t be so hard on yourself… scheiße happens sometimes
It’s a pleasant image I must say. Technically very good taking into exception the top RH corner that you’ve already mentioned.
I’m not jumping out my skin with excitement at it, but if you were to send me a print I’d certainly take pride in hanging it on my wall. I’d image it will print very well.
For me it’s missing just that little something to take it to another level… but I’ll be forc’d if I know what it is.
sean1098MemberBrickeeParticipantSorry, Crap occurs Huh?
Nice shot , makes me want to build a fire to warm up.
JimRobMemberBeautiful vista Martin, and beautifully exposed. I’m with Alan
in that I can’t see anything I don’t like here; grads my arse…
One of these days I’ll have to meet up with you and go walkabout…Rob.
lousyParticipantHi Martin, yes I’d have to agree it is a lovely image and well balanced with the large tree at LHS and bridge at RHS, but as has been said it does lack something.
Never used grads, but I do imagine they would give it that ‘punchy’ look perhaps that you were after.
PatShakeyBlakeyMemberSame here, its a great picture, maybe you had something else in your head but i like it just as it is.
mgstParticipantMartinParticipantThanks all for the comments. Tried a print of this last night and it came out terrible. The image needs some ump to get some life into it and allow it to print properly. When i went to make curves adjustments etc it kept blowing out the sky on the right and unbalanced the left of the image from the right of the image. There is no detail in the raw file for the blown out parts on the right so i was unable to blend two exposures or anything. Will keep an eye on the weather forecast and watch for similar weather again and try to get it properly next time
Thanks again all
MspudMemberMartinParticipantThanks spud
Heres two more pics, ones a different shot and the other is a reprocess, non of these will win any awards but sure…..
PixelleMemberI love the fluffy lacy foliage! OK, perhaps you weren’t intending fluffy, but that’s what I see.
spudMemberRobMemberPrefer the contrast in your original Martin, just pops that
little bit more. I quite like that extra one though; as already
mentioned, something quite painterly about it…Rob.
