We all learn a lot about techniques, equipment, etc… but how much do we know about light? This tutorial is pretty useful for beginners.

Too true. All too often people put a lot of time and effort into learning all about composition, focus, Photoshop and the in’s and out’s of digital imaging and come out at the end of it wondering why their images are still missing that wow factor. 99% of the time, that missing factor is light, or rather the correct use of light. One of the best text’s on light which ought to be in every photographers library is Light: Science and Magic: An Introduction to Photographic Lighting by Fil Hunter, Steven Biver & Paul Fuqua
