    has anyone any idea what this could be , press shutter button camera will not fire, happens in all modes goes away and then the shutter will start to fire again as if nothing was wrong canon 20d is the camera anyone else had this problem

    Does it happen when you shoot multiple frames rapidly after each other? It can be that the buffer fills up and it doesn’t let you shoot until the buffer is cleared a bit…

    single frame shots, and on multiple seems to just to get frozen , will press down but does not shoot does anyone know of a good repair person for canon other than canon themselves as 20d is well out of warrenty

    Don’t know what your location is, but the Camera Repair Centre in portabello Harbour Dublin 8
    You can get him in the phone book, can’t recall the number at present.
    He’s quite good, and could probably do it in house.

    Is it a faulty/slow CF card? If the top LCD says “busy” when you press the shutter release, the camera maybe will not fire because it is not communicating with the card.

    Try a different CF card.

    Or the camera is hunting for AF, try it in manual focus mode see if its any different …
