No early rise for lousy this morning!

lousyParticipant
Gave the garden a good going over today instead of rising early for a shoot
and enjoyed a few macro shots when finished. I’d appreciate some c&c as I’m not sure about this macro game.
Cheers
PatSodafarlMemberPat liked the second and third ones, is this the new macro lens . Definitely a lot harder than it looks.
Keep the coming .
Soda
lousyParticipantThanks soda, yeah finding it hard to get focus, these are the best I’ve taken since I got the lens.
Thanks for comment.
Patjb7ParticipantYou’ve done well here Pat-
yes, depth of field is extremely limited,
but the out of focus areas can serve to accentuate the sharp bits-The one critical comment I can make is about saturation-
its easy to blow individual channels-
and the detail can block up,
and you lose texture-Bringing saturation levels back selectively can help this-

Mr.HParticipantThese look good Pat – and you have a very colourful garden for early March… must be that sunnysoutheast micro-climate.
I like the 3rd one best. Would look good on a big canvas. However you should put a bit of time cloning out those black spots to make it perfect. These macro lenses pick up every minute imperfection.
Gary
lousyParticipantThanks Joseph and Gary, comments much appreciated.
I do tend to be somewhat heavt with the sat slider.
It’s a part of photography that interests me somewhat
as I have gone more for landscapes but am willing to try all aspects
of the hobby. Thanks again for the commentsPat
Vanessa kennedyMembershutterbugParticipantNo 3 stands out for me, just because of the colours, the thing about
macro is it shows up all the little bits of dirt as well, use one of those
lens blowers first to remove grit etc!ImagineParticipantI love these with 2 being my favourite.
I’ve a 100mm macro that never comes out of my bag as I find it tough to take anything that makes it off the camera never mind the PC.
I must try again.
D.
lousyParticipantThanks for comments guys, I have to say it’s not the easiest of lens to use.
Patwexkel11MemberHi Pat, I’ve been neglecting the site of late. Delighted to see you’re getting good value out of your new lens. The colour is really vibrant, three is my favourite. Excellant. Mike
