Spotted this in Castlebridge Wexford and as the title suggests there aren’t a lot around.
Just thought I’d post to see if there are many around.Pat
steelydanParticipantjb7ParticipantNot a lot, though there used to be-
Maybe it should be in the Architecture section-Designed be Sir Giles Gilbert Scott- RIBA Gold Medal winner 1925-
who also designed the Bankside Power Station, now home to Tate Modern-
and lots of other stuff-This is more usually seen in red, of course-
Looks a bit grainy-
down to the sharpening? No more Olympus?
Though I haven’t checked the exif-
ps- can’t see yours John- can’t see anything addressed to the pi gallery-
I’ve given up searching for them now-j
DenverDollParticipantcool photos~~
I remember how enamoured of those I was when I first went to Ireland.
Beth has a good one too…but she doesn’t come here anymore..
lousyParticipantNo more Olympus?

Just passing through and spotted the PB and had a Canon20D in the car.
My 40 D is being serviced at the moment and have the 20D on loan from a mate and the Oly I’m testing for someone.
If you notice on top of the PB there’s a crown, so obviously this is around since English rule.
There are about 7 post boxes of the same ilk in Wexford also.
Just a bit of useless information, sorry for rambling on.Pat
Alan RossiterParticipantThere’s something particularly odd in this image but can be seen quite often if you look. The name – telefon and the crown above it. Surely there was a time in history when this would have ben frowned upon. Which also suggests to me that this was an import. It’s interesting to see though and I wouldn’t have noticed it had it not been presented in image form. Cheers Pat.
Here’s a challenge for you, being a person that does get around a bit. There’s a few British post boxes around Wexford that are too painted green but have the obvious markings. They’re big so it shouldn’t be difficult but it could keep your mind occupied in the rain.
Alan.
[EDIT] Doh! Learn to post faster Alan!! Seems like you spotted the crown Pat.
jb7ParticipantNot exactly,
this won a design competition in the UK in 1926-
and although Ireland was a member of the Commonwealth then,
it could hardly be called ‘Rule’-Still, a lot of things still came from the Empire-
That design is the classic phonebox design-
really nicely proportioned-j
ExpresbroParticipantirish147ParticipantPat,
