Does anybody use a digital tablet? I have an Aiptek 14000U and I am not sure if it is working properly or if the normal features/functionality of tablets are just not for me!

I was wondering how oteh rpeople get on with them.

I had been expecting some sort of mouse-like navigation, with the facility to take the pen off the tablet and move it to somewhere else without the cursor moving. This is not the case – teh cursor moves even of the pen is a few inches above the tablet. While that may be a feature of tablets generally I think the fault in mine is that the cursor does not truly reflect where I have moved it to – it seems to lag and then catch up. As you can imagine, in Photoshop, this can be infuriating!

    Any comemnts or advice?

I use a Wacom and the pen once lifted from the tablet stops movement of the cursor……………I’m no expert but I wonder if there is a problem is it readily compatible with Photoshop? Have you look at the Aiptek website to see if there are any updates??

Checked the web site and currently communicating in Italio-German-English. I think there may be a compatibility problem with CS3 which I am using.

I had considered the Wacom offerings but thought I would try a cheaper alternative first, to try it out. Might still end up with one.

In either case, the supplier has offered a replacement which I might try before sending ot back for good.

I have an old Wacom PenPartner and my missus recently bought a Wacom Bamboo, with both of them, when you take the pen away from the tablet, the cursor stops moving, once you put the pen back on the tablet, the cursor jumps to that point in relation to area on the tablet.
The Wacom Bamboo cost €99 in PC World, so it is good cheap alternative to the €300-500 Wacom tablets.

It depends how you have the tablet configured. I have mine configured how your talking about.

I have a wacom tablet, the software allows it to either do absolute or relative positioning, relative is what you want, its mouse like

Looks like I have a faulty one. The supplier has agreed a refund. I’ll be getting a Wacom – based on other reviews/reprots as well as comemnts here.
