This shot has so much potential and I really like it. The capture of the young boy ‘in flight’ is excellent, different too.
There’s a couple of issues, one that can be resolved, the other… well not so easily
1) There’s a white haze over the entire image which can be easily enough fixed in something like Photoshop using Curves. I tried it out and the image looks much better
2) The image is a bit cluttered, the gents to the extreme right and left, plus the chappie directly behind the jumping character just throw this shot off. At the very least I’d like to have seen nobody behind the chap juming. On looking at the thumbnail initially I thought he just an extremely tall bloke.
But all in all a pretty good first post.

Oh.. the 3rd is better.. because now I see that there is a ring of locals formed around the main chappie at centre stage… so it puts the formation in #1 into context.
Here’s a quick look at #1 with a curves adjustment… not perfect but better IMO for 20 seconds work (ps. I see that you have Edit My Pics = No but I thought this might just help illustrate my point so hope you don’t mind):
Yes, a definate improvement. Looking at them now I can see what you mean, they have a cloudy look to them. Have to get on to curves like you said. Thanks for the great help!

Seems like it might have been dust in the air-
maybe-I think it might have been good to try to separate the jumper from the figures in the background-
getting closer and lower might have helped that-
as it is, there are two pairs of feet under him,
and it lessens the impact slightly-I’ve never been to Africa-
how was this organized?
I’m a little bit cynical myself, unfortunately- might this be a photo call?
or did you get to know the people at all?Good first post-

Thanks for the comment JB7. This was taken while on Safari in Kenya. We had driven for hours to get to the Massai Mara. Along the way (on very bumpy roads!) we came across various massai camps. We stopped at this one and a group of massai came around the corner chanting and doing a massai dance in front of us. The driver told us that it is a ritual where by the men of the village show there prowess by how high they can jump. The highest jumper signifies the best strength and stamina as a tribal warrior. So I had the camera and just tryed to take a few shots as they were doing it. Of course it wasn’t by chance that these fellas happened to be dancing just as we arrived! The camp is near to the park so inevitably they do put a bit of a show on for passing tourists.
