Alan RossiterParticipant
Jeeez, this place was dusty! I brought the youngsters to see the biking expecting mud but it was like the desert. There’ll be dust bunnies from here on methinks.
I tried panning but any that I did get were obscured by ropes, barriers, etc – the rest were dirt. Here’s a few I did get. Nothing special unfortunately.
Dusty jumps
I can’t see!!
I just can’t shake this landscape thing!!
Biking on Mars
I can fly!!
Uh-oh!
hey, I can fly too!
Did I mention it was dusty. This guy came prepared.Alan.
nfl-fanParticipantNice job Alan.
Was glad I ran into you up there, nice to meet the young lads too. Was like a headless chicken when I arrived… praying I might happen upon yourself or Joe Elway, never been to one of these events before, have to say it was pretty cool.
By God was it dusty… I’m not showered yet… my face is hilariously filthy. Had to give the camera a go-over with the Dyson.
I’m working on my batch at the moment.. never deleted so many shots from a single shoot in my life.
Great job on all the shots. Nice to try something different. Sorry I didn’t get to say goodbye, headed to the chipper and couldn’t find you after that. Head home shortly afterwards.
J
BrickeeParticipantLooks looks like you had a dirty time of it I do like the results though. Nice set.
Jim
irishshaguaParticipant3 and 4 are great for me. 3 probably being my favourite. Great sense of action in them. Lovely contrast of colours inthe third one as well. I hope you weren’t changing lenses with all that dust around…. :P
Brian
sean1098MemberYeah , nice set Alan, 2,4 and 6 standing out for me. Cant wait for the road racing to kick off this year.
Sean.
Alan RossiterParticipantChange lenses Brian?? I nearly brought home the wrong kids!
I used the Bigma on the Sony A700 and the 24-70 on the Sony A100 so I was well covered. All went well until a marshal with a Canon and a big white lens asked me to stop using a flash. Bloomin’ cheek. Should I block the sun too?? Funny, I never saw here once using the camera. Maybe she was holding it for someone.
Cheers for the comments.
Alan.
BTW – the senior events are on tomorrow which should be fast and furious and probably high. I might pop along again if anyone was thinking of heading that way. I’ll be in Gorey to cover a bike race (pedal) but it’s only a short spin across. PM me.
nfl-fanParticipantMight head back up tomorrow. Will take a rain check in the morning. Am gonna bring some goggles and a Michael Jackson style mouth filter tomorrow if I do go.
Big FellaParticipantjessthespringerParticipantRobMemberNumber seven for me Alan, well timed.
As I mentioned on NFL’s thread, I can only imagine the
difficulties involved in trying to shoot in this environment,
so I’m not a great judge, but I do like this one the most…Rob.
jb7Participant6 for me, from a good set-
though tighter might have been nicer on that one,
might be better without the banner, maybe-Good dust splashes there too-
can almost smell the 2-stroke-
(do they still use 2-stroke?)j
Alan RossiterParticipantCheers folks. 2-stroke – couldn’t tell you JB. All I know is motor bikes have 2 wheels and that’s about the knowledge I have about them. I will say one thing – the underage racers – some were no more than 6 and they were suicidal on the bikes. Fearless. There’s no way in hell any of my lads will do this. It’s mental.
I went back today and the dust was way less than yesterday. But, I found a problem from yesterday. The Bigma has an extension of about 9 inches when extended to 500mm. The moving back and forward drew in air – dust filled air. I see a layer of dust just inside the first element. It doesn’t affect the image quality but I’d rather not have it there at all. It can only do harm. Time to look for somewhere to do a job on it!
The rest from today, and the finer sport of cycle racing will be filtered through tomorrow. Today I’m just whacked! :(
Alan
joe_elwayParticipantAnother excellent set. Well done Alan. I was looking at that location you shot the landscape on yesterday but I only had mucky grey clouds. You did a lovely job on that one … captures the location well. That 2nd one rules! Total sense of the action. Same with the 4th.
