Im not that great at portraits….so here’s some more practise!
It was crazy windy that day. Im suprised there isn’t more noise in the photos.
…I really wish he’d cut his hair someday!ted_orourkeMemberplainoldmeMemberthanks for the comment. I like that one too. Also the second one, and the second last. both seemed like strong ones to me, but id love to hear what everyone else thinks!
irishshaguaParticipantThink there is too much “other stuff” in the frame of these shots to really be good portrait shots. All the good portrait shots I;ve seen have had a really tight crop on the face to exemplify the features of the face. Most of these shots have the face hidden by his hair and are very bright which also makes it hard to see detail in teh face. They’re not bad pictures, the castle in teh background of number four looks very nice but if the efect you are going for is a real portrait shot than these don’t really work for me.
Second is probably the best one for me. Good use of DOF and close framing but again the hair is hiding too much facial detail for me. All the pictures are very bright though. I don;t think they really suit the mood of the shots. He is sitting and relaxed in most of them and the harsh blues of the sky suggest moreenergy than is portrayed by the poses.
Hope that helps, but tis only an opinion :P
BrianplainoldmeMemberLike I said, I REALLY wish he;d cut his hair! Thanks for the comments, I would be inclined to agree with you to some extent
lousyParticipantWithout wanting to sound like a parrot, I would agree with #2 being the best and also the hair thing but I’m sure you don’t want to hear it again.
They’re all fine shots though and clear and sharp.Pat
plainoldmeMemberThanks pat, appreciate it.
He’s sitting beside me, reminding me that he’ll never ever ever ever *insert a few more here* cut his hair. Lost cause methinks
