    Had a good day today, there were plenty of cars today, and it gave me a chance to blow the cobwebs of the sports lense ready for the road racing.

    Sean,

    I have a new found interest in this sort of stuff given my trip to the Moto-X yesterday. This is a nice little collection here, but the colours are a bit flat.

    A little tip for getting the best out of these shots to get rid of the haze and bring out the colours:

    * In PS goto Curves
    * Beneath the curves there are 3 eye dropper tools which from left to right represent Shadows, Midtones & Highlights
    * Click the Shadows Eye Dropper tool and click on the blackest part of the image – I think I clicked on the dash – PS will automatically balance the shadows in your photo

    You can also try the same with the Highlight Eye Dropper tool, this time clicking on the whitest point in the image.

    Here’s an example of #5 revised simply using the Shadow Eye dropper tool:

    Literally 5 seconds work for that conversion. Used it on all my Moto-X shots yesterday as the dust threw off a lot of the shots. Pretty handy.

    Thanks for tips John, yeah did not do anything to these, just through them up. I dont really work at my sports shots, unless someone wants a print.

    But thats a handy wee tip.

    I’ve used the contrast + saturation for a similar effect, but it goes mad with the moise levels… you’ve jsut saved me a lot of hassle!

    For every single Moto-X shot yesterday it was:

    * Adjust the exposure + a few minor tweaks in Camera RAW (the Recovery slider is handy for those blown bits)
    * The Curves adjustment just mentioned
    * A Linear Contract Curves adjustment (not on all shots)
    * Unsharp Mask Filter

    Was pretty happy with the results from such simple PS work.
