The second shot is a beaut Jim. You got the sharpness and DOF spot on. The two shots would look well side by side, or better still you could get one every day if the light is good and create a time lapse capture….Mikka
Nice ‘ol mini-project going on there Jim. Nice to have something about the house like that to keep you occupied.
I’ve been trying to macro goldfish this evening as a similar sort of mini-project… not as easy as it might sound… having a real hard time getting it right. Their skin/scale reflect light and throws everything off.

John– I’m sure gold fish are a challange as they are very reflective. I have another project going on but it is a secret for now though I think you will be pleased with it.

the goldfish are a pain in the butt to photograph, have had a few goes at it myself hard to track and focusat times.
