Was out in Bray for the Bray -v- Patselona match (top of the table still, thank you very much) but went out a little early to take a few snaps. Have a few her that kind of fit into different categories but to save on starting three or four different threads I said I’d throw them up here. I also took a few snaps at the game but I’ll spare you’s the agony of having to look at them  . All C&C appreciated.

This shot was a guy and his girlfriend (I presume) painting Bray Head. A few people walking down the beach stopped to admire his work. I thought it looked nice but I’m not really sure it came across in this shot. Would appreciate what you’s think about this one a lot.

    Cheers

    Hi Brian,
that last shot is by far the best out of this set, interesting interaction going on, nicely framed
and I really like the pole for some reason. Only thing I would say is it’s a bit on the flat side
for me.. bit more contrast would help I think.

Like the first as well but the water is pretty blown, did you use a filter at all on this one?

Like the concept in the third, but again it’s a bit flat, think for these kind of shots, loads of
    contrast works better.

Not really sure about the second, have seen better from you in the past.

    Cheers,
    Sinead.

I like the second as a composition, but feel it needs a bit of a boost with the curves tool.

#3 for some reason…not even known to me… I like..although a bit of distortion on the horizon

and the final one is a very good capture and as has been said the interaction is well featured.

    Well done Brian.

    3 for me-

In order for a shot like 1 to work, I think you’d need to retain detail in the foam-

The last looks ok, but I do get the impression that it was a bit of a snoop,
and I wouldn’t have got the story without the explanation-
but good to see the shots being populated-

    Cheers for the comments everyone.
I do boost the contrast in most pictures I take. First and third shots here got a good boost of contrast. I don’t like doing it too much because it kind of makes them look a little un-natural compared to the original shot when I’m working on them and I’m trying my best to get the shot that I want first time in camera now, although I did have to clone two lads heads out of number three . As far as the second one goes, I really liked the light that was only hitting half the rocks and when I thought tha was the strongest part of the shot but maybe it doesn’t come across well here.

Thanks for the comments though and I will try and play with the pix again.

J, I know what you mean about the last shot. It was something that looked good at the time but unfortunately doesn’t really come across as well in the shot. I was thinking about trying a little colour pop on the actual painting he was doing to emplify that a bit but I don’t want to be resorting to them kinds of tricks and I’m not sure it’d look good anyways. But still trying to take your advice about getting more people in my shots.

    Cheers again everyone

Absolutely love number three Brian. Really well composed and
executed. There’s a tiny bit of barrel distortion on the horizon but
    even without fixing it’s a cracking shot…

Cheers Rob. Bleedin Barrell distortion, happens on pretty much every shot I take.

I really like #2 Brian… The last one has a nice bit of interaction going on…

Brian really like no 1 & 2 with 1 being my favourite a little more detail in the foam and reckon this would make
a great print and love the dept on no 2.

It would be No.3 for me too Brian. I think it’s the pick of this bunch for sure.

It shows imagination and is well composed. I suppose there is that barrel distortion thing, but that doesn’t bother me…as somebody said before..the earth is round..get over it…hehehe!!

Just saw these and have to say I love the third..looked at it large and it’s pretty cool!

I also love the fourth..it has the warm feel of friends..though they may possibly be be freezing…enjoying a relaxing afternoon together. Of course when I look at it I twist my head and can’t decide if the horizon should be straightened or the pole should be tilted~~can’t have both in this one :?

Cheers for looking Denver. I think its probably the bit of barrel distortion in the 4th that makes it look off.

I tried a couple of the improvements that people suggested. Hopefully they make them look a little better.
