Taken on the Enniscorthy-Clonroche road a few weeks ago… the day Wales beat Ireland and I went for a spin…

I like this alot, was going to say I think it’s one of your better shots (but I think thats because I like trees so much)
very nice post processing, nice tones and good composition, like the way it’s just off centre.

    Well done.

    Sinead.

I’m laughing, was about to post one of these shots myself… Maybe I’ll wait until later.

Cheers folks! Wasn’t totally sure about this one… not my usual thing.

Sinead: I actually done most of the conversion in Lightroom! Wonka is always onto me about how great it is.. but I could never take to it. But after seeing your conversion yesterday I decided to have a nose around and used one of the presets to get it to about 70% of where I wanted it.

Very good shot, a shot like this printed 1m x 1m and hung on a wall, I imagine would look fantastic. The mucky (only word I can think of) cloud above really finishes it off the picture, it balances the strong contrast below.

This has potential. I would (if it could be done without wrecking the shot) darkening the back ground to bring out more detail and sharpen the foreground and tree if possible

Yep, considered tinkering with the sky alright. As for the sharpening… there was a fairly significant amount applied during PS processing but when I re-sized and uploaded to Flickr something got lost in translation. I was tempted to post the 500×500 version as I’m not totally convinced with the 800×800 in terms of sharpness.

LOL..am thinking we need a forum titled…~*fill in your name* tree~

This is really great NFL~~well processed..I love the amount of detail you were able to maintain in the tree trunk..I have yet to accomplish that.

The sky was in your favour to add just enough gloom to make the poor tree oh so lonely~~

    Like this lots…

If anyone of us ever opens a pub..it would have to be called Lonely Tree and it would have to display our talent for recognising bleak moments~~~

I like this NFL the dark foreground i think works well with it .
these are not my cup of tea normally but since the P.I weekend
and Martin and Sinead roaring across fields to shot a tree and seeing
the results on here i have noticed myself looking for these kind of shots

Nice one John, as said above the dark sky at the top balances well with the foreground. The sky is nice and is a great backdrop for the tree. Nice and simple shot well done

Now see what you’ve started Martin – IR to square B&W.

TBH I was looking through links lately to square formats and B&W and it can be quite interesting. This one works well in the format. Well balanced and simple. You can’t go wrong.
