Car Trouble?
-
Jay KingParticipant
A ’52 Chevy on the streets of Habana Vieja, Cuba. It’s in need of a little repair work!
C&C welcome – especially on the processing… it’s something I really need some tips on :-/
Cheers
CotaParticipantVery nice pic, the green of the car could be enhanced a bit to brighten it up.
mgstParticipantThe decaying car sits well with the decaying building and works well good timing with the guy leaning into the car
i like it very nice shot.Mick
DenverDollParticipantOh that’s a lovely shot!
Classic scene and well captured.
I haven’t got any good criticism, I think they said it~~
Sharon
jb7ParticipantLooks good to me-
perhaps a little over saturated maybe-
though that’s a taste issue-I might try a little off the right, to centre the car more in the frame-
that mechanic/well prepared motorist will provide all the asymmetry needed in an otherwise symmetrical shot-good one-
j
beefParticipantNice shot Jay, I really do like this one. Is there something funny going on with the guys left arm though, since I’ve noticed it it’s all I can see?
guthrijParticipantcrazygameParticipantI love this shot! Visited Cuba in 2002 and this shot encapsulates Havana in my opinion.
To me it tells the story of havanas decay and cuban resourcefulness.
I’m a complete novice, and know very little but i’d leave this shot as it is.BrickeeParticipantWell exposed and colourful, I like this one alot Jay. It sets off a feeling of being there.
Jim
ExpresbroParticipantExcellent Jay…really nice image.
I’m jealous as hell..Cuba is one place I’d love to visit. I have a feeling it will be changing a lot over the next 10 years…so these kind of scenes may well be a thing of the past.
Well captured.
DeeboParticipantExcellent pic.
I think this would be great in HDR if you have the RAW file, so much detail to be got from the brickwork and the rusting car.
Never been the cuba but this pic does encapsulate what I have seenWell done Jay
DeeJay KingParticipantThanks for all the feedback folks :)
Glad you like it… and especially that it encapsulates Havana in some way – as that was my intention because of the now changing times… Havana is such a nice and colourful place, it really is like being back in a different time.
JB you mentioned trimming some off the right hand side, I had thought about doing this to make the car central but wasn’t sure if it was a good idea… so I’ll give it a shot now.
beef: Yeah, the guy’s left arm looks funny alright – I only noticed it after I posted here… must have overdone something when playing around with the processing :-/
And thanks again to everyone else… nice to get so many positive comments. And please feel free to point out anything you may think could have been done better or differently :)
fguihenParticipantwhats your gear Jay? Ive seen quite a few of your photos here and they are excellent. not many photos make me look at them for more than a few seconds but i always spend ages looking at your photos.
Jay KingParticipantThanks fquihen… glad you like them…
For those shots in Cuba I used a Canon 40D with either a Canon 18-55mm lens, Canon 50mm 1.8 lens, or Canon 75-300mm lens… The exif is still in that photo but I’m not sure which lens I used… probably the 18-55
I think the processing has a lot to do with it too though – I do it in Lightroom. I’ll post a preset here soon that I have saved…
