Jay KingParticipant
Baseball practice on the streets – Havana, Cuba…
Not sure about this one… the bit of shadow on the right is annoying me, easilly cloned out I guess.
C&C welcome! :)
*edit – this web version seems to be a bit darker too for some reason… :-/
mylesrantsParticipantlove the pic
but afraid to say anything else with the boxer image attached to your post!ExpresbroParticipantAs I already said on your Flickr Jay..this is easily my favourite of your Cuban shots…pure Street..wonderful composition.
Love it.
PS. I think I’d crop that shadow out…there is plenty of room on the right to crop and still leave a very strong..maybe even stronger image.
BrickeeParticipantThis one it true to street. I like it and Agree with the need to crop.
Jim
RobMemberThat’s quite a capture Jay, ball in mid-air and, if I’m not mistaken,
both feet off the ground too. Really nice post processing too, though
the suggestion for a crop from the right might improve the overall
presentation…Rob.
nfl-fanParticipantA really great image there… the decay, the near emptiness and the young lad all combine really well.
I like the image as is… there’s a sense of space above the boy to throw the ball into and it also gives us a glimpse of what look like tallish buildings.
Very nice processing too, really suits the whole vibe. Care to share how you processed these?
jb7ParticipantkenhParticipantA really cool shot Jay – I could study it for hours. I like the darker part too – contrasts very well with the sunny wall and
street – perhaps if you PP the dark bit it a bit brighter so some of the figures were a little clearer – but a brilliant shot!8)
ossie13ParticipantJay excellent “street” shot you have captured the moment !!!!
Cheers Steve
DeeboParticipantGreat shot, love it like all the rest of your Cuba shots.
Agree with Ken, bring out some shadow detail would be good, esp on the little boy. I would clone out the shadow. You could crop but you would lose the bollards at the top right and I quite like these and the washing above themAnother excellent street shot
DeeJay KingParticipantWow didn’t expect such positive feedback on this! Thanks all…
Myles: lol don’t worry – you can say what you like, please do! (I know where you live though!!)
Expresbro: Cheers Robbie… glad you like it – I was considering a crop but didn’t want to lose that much of the background with the bollards, opening and people… even if they are dark. I just quickly cloned out the shadow instead… I’ll post it now…
Brickee: Thanks for the feeback – again, with the crop as above… so see how the clone looks to you
Rob: Yeah cheers… both feet off the ground alright! Just about though!!
nfl-fan: Thanks… the processing is something I was messing around with for ages before I found the ‘right’ technique… I did it in Lightroom, and I’ll post the preset that I saved soon… although with this image it was actually a bit dark to start off with… so it’s slightly different to the preset I used on my other Cuba shots…
jb7: Cheers – and yeah… he’s pitching it alright… The title is meant as the boy saying ‘Catch’… not him about to catch it… if that’s what you mean?!
kenh: I tried to bring the darker bits out a bit more… but as the shot was quite dark to start with it didn’t look too good… so left as it
ossie13: Thanks for the feedback :) …oh and the flickr contact addition!
Dee: Yeah I feel the same about the cropping v’s cloning… so below is the cloned version instead of a crop…
