Looking back through some shots I did many years ago. I came across this one. It is the very first time I had done a “model shoot”. It was for a friend of mine who wanted a few Headshots done as he was trying to get into acting. I have learnt a lot about processing since I took this so I applied my PS knowledge to the processing of this and I quite like the result.

However what I like about this is that it was shot before I had learnt or done any Off Camera Flash. Yes folks this was done (sharp intake of breath) with the flash situated squarely on top of the hotshoe on the camera and then if that was not bad enough, the flash I used had no manual settings and was done with TTL :(

With portrait photography we have possibly become so convinced that only Off Camera Flash should be used that we immediately dismiss any images which use on camera flash (me included)
