Just a few shots of the”Independance of the Seas”. It was well worth seeing, I think it’s back in Cobh in about 2 weeks time.I know a lot of people had traffic trouble trying to get to Cobh.

Isn’t that simply stunning – the sheer scale of it! Well captured.
I just finished reading ‘Star of the Sea’ – about a ship leaving Cobh, taking emigrants to the US during the famine years. The contrast between conditions onboard came to mind; I’d hazard a guess that they don’t throw the dead bodies overboard at first light from this ship!

That’s quite a vessel. Any shots that show its entire length?

Nice shots Peter – tried to make it myself but the traffic was bad by the time I arrived.

Just a pity that the second just misses the full length, but great and historic shots nonethless!

Here she is passing Spike Island. For anyone thats interested ,if you drive up the hill past the oil Refinery in Whitegate there is a Department of Defence “fort” (Fort Davis I think)up there. It is ideal for watching these ships come and go. No problems with parking.
