    Hi,

I did some high key portraits for my sister in law last week and have just printed them. This is my first money making portrait shoot, not much, but still…

here are my favourites. Critiques welcome…

the kids shots are very nice, I particularly like the ones of the girl on her own.

I’m sure your sister will be proud of these.

    Lovely set of images.
Really like the first one, although I’d prefer to see less of a gap between mum & dad.
Not too sure on the B&W, some parts like her forehead just look blown…even a hint of tone would make a difference.

Aside from that though, well done.
    They should be very pleased.

Well done. I’d be pretty pleased if these were mine.
    You’ve captured some great expressions.

Out of interest, what lighting equipment etc… were you using ?

4 Bowens 500W, 2 for BG and 2 for FG, both with softboxes. Yeah, the gap can’t be helped now, but you are right enough.

Richard these are really good, you should be well chuffed.
I think no.3 is the stand out, second is very nice too.

Not too sure about the black and white though, bit too much
    white I think.

Lovely colouring and light – the last one is def. my favourite!
The focus on the eyes is pin sharp!

Lovely set of images indeed, and the added bonus of being paid
to do something you enjoy. It doesn’t get much better than that.
Well done, and hopefully there’ll be more of it for you…

Nice set well done! With a white background it should be quite easy to bring the couple together in 1st photo. Had a quick go hope you don’t mind.

Yes, i’m absolutely livid! … well maybe not livid…well no i don’t mind?!

Yeah, i agree they are apart and the gap is wrong, but i’m not keen to actually physically change it that much. You did a good job though, but the photo’s are already out and that one was one they chose, even from “closer” shots. But it’s nice when people mention things about photo’s, as i know it’ll pop into my head next time i do a family shoot.

    Jess and others:

I love the High key BW image, it looks even better in print, but i think it is a “marmite” photo  My wife isn’t fussed either :)

They are great, certioanly better thanh I could have managed.

Would it be a good idea to photoshop the red patch on the nose of the baby?
