Somewhat shocked tonight to read the article below. Trent worked here in Galway for some time now and would probably be well known to many of the members here on the site from the West of Ireland. I got to know him reasonably well during the last year. He was a nice guy and loved a good party. “May he rest in peace”

NZ photographer found dead 28-5-2008 13:01 Nairobi –

A New Zealand-born photographer was found dead with head injuries on Wednesday in the Kenyan capital Nairobi,
police said. “Initial observations showed that the body had visible injuries on the head. An inquest file has so far been opened,” police spokesperson Eric Kiraithe said.

A police statement said the body was found “in a drainage trench” near the main highway that ran through the capital,
    but did not elaborate.

The statement said a document found on his body indicated that the deceased was a photographer by the name of Trent Keegan and added he was believed to be an Irish national, although his identity could be ascertained.

However a picture of the photographer featuring on his personal website was positively identified by a police official. The website describes Keegan as originally from New Zealand.

The website featured several photo projects from Kenya and the victim’s biography said he had recently been working for several Irish newspapers and magazines.

Never met him, but still shocked. I took a look at his site, and you can tell he loved what he did.

For anyone in or about Galway who may like to attend or for anybody who knew him and would like to go along, there is a special memorial service in Salthill for the late Trent Keegan on this Tuesday evening, June 3rd, at 9.30pm on the prom opposite Seapoint, Salthill. It will be conducted by the Rev. Patrick Towers, Galway.

Do come along if you can.
