Friend and work colleague of mine who kindly stood still for me
during a brief bright spell yesterday afternoon…Rob.
RimaMemberVery nice portrait Rob :) It made me smile, there is some warm feeling about it. She seems to be a very nice lady :)
lousyParticipantIs this a 50mm job? Yep looks good nice and sharp .. love the twinkle in the eyes.

jb7ParticipantGood one Rob- looks like it gets the personality across-
though it seems to be picking up some colour-
was there a lawn outside the window?I’m not sure about the hair in the eyes either-
makes it feel just a bit uncomfortable,
and those pleats look like they need a little attention-It seems maybe a little tight too-
a little more space might have led to a slightly more relaxed pose,
as might have been a slight rotation towards or away from the light-seems like I’m being a little tough,
been picking up a few pointers from nfl recently…j
RobMemberThanks to all for the comments…
Rima: A very nice lady indeed. I’ve had the pleasure of working with
her for almost twenty years now, during which time she’s been trying
unsuccessfully to improve my Irish language skills. She’ll be retiring before
the end of this year and she’ll be sorely missed…Pat: This is at 50mm all right, but not my Zuiko 50mm, just the short end
of my 50-200mm. I prefer a slightly longer length really for portraits, but
I couldn’t move back any farther on account of a wall behind me, and didn’t
want to ask Síle to move again…Joseph: Thank you for the detailed response, all helpful. This is an outdoor
shot, taken under a large canopy which shelters a wall of huge glass doors.
I never even noticed the reflected colour from the all the greenery on either
side of the entrance, so nicely done in spotting it. The tightness? As already
mentioned, I couldn’t move any farther away, etc.seems like I’m being a little tough,
been picking up a few pointers from nfl recently…Tee hee. Not at all. Something that’s becoming more obvious to me now is that
I need to take a little more time to assess what’s in my frame before I press that
shutter; the pleats could be better arranged, but I never spotted that. More time,
more time. I’m getting better. I took a little time on this, and only shot one frame,
so I’m pleased enough with myself for that.Rob.
