Paris by night

From around new year. Post Christmas there’s a series of walks in Paris of various lengths called the Godillot Familial. Busloads come from all over France to take part. It wasn’t something where a tripod would have been very practical, so these are both handheld – hooray for IS lenses!!

This one, I’ll admit I did cheat a wee bit in that there was not a chance in hell that the guy was going to time his run past so that the searchlights would be visible, so they did come from a second shot

    sorry
there are things better not photographed

look at ur 2nd image. well composed well lit and a guy with movement, everything for a great composition
    but its the tower
or the white house or the opera house or anything so popular that a million disposable cameras have stolen its photographable mo jo

    no clearer eh!

Don’t agree with that sentiment. An interesting approach to a familiar object or scene can always be worthwhile. How many beach photographs do we see? how many sunset photos do we see? that doesn’t mean that people can’t do them in an imaginative and original way…..ditto the eiffel tower (although in this case I don’t particularly think the guy running around the track + the eiffel tower adds up to that much). Do think the b&w is great; Paris is the city for black and white by night…..

I would have to agree with Liam here. I’m a big fan of Paris and I’m heading back in September for a short break. Its a beautiful place so full of life and character. Personally I love to photograph the place and I don’t see anything wrong with taking shots of the tower nor the opera etc etc..

Good work on no 1 JMcL, very steady hands,
