Beautiful colour on the stone in the first three. The fourth is absolutely picturesque. The last one is a nice idea. Showing a kind of older time but yer man on the left ruins it a bit. Maybe you could crop him out? 1st and 4th are real crackers though. Compositionally and colour wise. Lovely shots.

    Hope you enjoyed your visit.

    Thanks Brian

They were all taken with the fuji s9600 as i dont take my Canon on family holidays, to enough time to sneak anywhere. There was great light that evening in question and the one of the old lady i had already cropped out a part of a skip on the left and that guy seems out of place in the photo but i was worried that i might loose some of the winding street .Heres the crop and i left it as colour to see what you think

Aye I can see what you mean but I think the overall picture without yer man in it, has more impact. You could probably crop off a little bit below her feet as well.
Definitely a nice shot though, real old worldy, simpler time type thing. Don’t worry, I won’t ask you to clone out the moped.

    Numbers 1 3 and 5 I like with 3 being my favourite.
b&w works really well with the last one. I think you could rub the guy on the right out with “healing brush” or “spot healing brush” in Photoshop, it would just take a minute.
I rescued a shot in a monastery in Croatia with healing brush, a guy with a bright blue bag stepped in as I clicked
In b&w the bike at her should could easily be removed too, probably just by darkening the bright bits.

Some lovely shots there John, certainly for me the colour shot of the old lady would be my favourite as I love the different colours in the street.

BTW John, I’m presently deciding weather to bring my canon with me to Alcudia in early August. Besides the time thing what do you think. Also as it is my time going to Alcudia do you have any recommendations / advice.

If you find time to get around with the camera. even one night its well worth bringing the canon. The Old town of Alcudia is a must as thats where most of those photos were taken and the evening light there was excellent (as it should be). The lighthouse on the tip of the island is called Formentor and it has a long winding drive to get there, the third shot of the seascape was taken on the drive there. If you don’t want to hire a car then a taxi to the old town is only about a fiver and the port of Alcudia is worth a visit ( i did not make it to there). Alcudia itself is the same as your normal holiday resort, not many photographic opportunities but with a small 3 year old i didnt get much of a chance to explore.

Ill try get rid of that scooter

    Bring the Canon!
We were in Alcudia in late May / early June.
    I brought along the 400D, my 17-70, a 70-300 and even a 10-20 and didn’t regret it for a second.
The beach at port d’Alcudia is very nice. Cap Formentor is spectacular!
The Victoria Peninsula near Alcudia is great for a a hike, with views towards Cap des Pinar at the end the of pensinsula.
We also took some trips into the Tramuntana Mountains, but we don’t have kids.

Here is a link to my flickr gallery of shots from that trip:

And here are some samples (I hope that’s alright steelydan?):

Some lovely Photos there Hauke and also in your flicker page. The bottom left shot above would look great in any travel guide book. I still haven’t made up my mind but now I’m thinking about what lenses to bring. We normally don’t do alot of hiking during our sun holiday as we have a weeks campimg in the west Ireland planned when we come back. One rest week and one active week, you know the way it is.
