    Cathal,

Thank you so much for coming along today and capturing these amazing pics. I really appreciate it.

You did a great job capturing these from a difficult (and not entirely safe) position.

So we finally did it. 9 months of planning and we got ourselves into the bigest cave on the north coast and Cathals images have recorded it perfectly. It was an amazing experience and I have never been so terrified in my life. There was a fair swell down there that the camera doesn’t show.

The cave itself was just incredible and we dared not go any further in than about 50m. Perhaps it’s better that the far reaches of Dunkerry remain forever a mystery, as I doubt I would ever have the guts to go back. If it goes in for 2 miles like the legends say, I doubt any man will ever get there.

My photograph of the inside will be posted later tonight

    Thank you again Cathal.

The quote of the day came from Iain after the excitement,

“We did this by the textbook (pause thinking) …….. if the textbook existed.”

The full story of the adventure is up at the Colmcille climbers website. Iain tells a good story.

As I suspected, the Irish News are going to run with our story.

Some of Cathals images along with my own photograph will be featured in the Irish News tomorrow (Tuesday).

Grab a copy tomorrow if you can.

Cathal, this is a lovely set, are these HDR by any chance, they really have a lurvly tonal range to them but just watch the horizon in the first one, and the blown high-lights. there’s a couple of dust bunnies there too.

Jaysis in fairness thou, Andy fair play to ya. Glad to hear all went well.
