1st time Wedding photos

Hi Guys,
This is my 1st time posting on this site but I have be a regular visitor for the past 5-6 months. It would be great if you could give some feed back on these photo’s. They were taking last week on a wedding photography course run by digital Begineers.
latchikoParticipantThe content of the photos (poses, composition, lighting) is perfect but the blurring is a bit much for me. I find the first one difficult to look at because the blurring creates a optical paradox, i.e. if the model is in focus then why is the wall blurred? I wonder what the reason behind the blurring is. If it is to bring attention away from the wall and towards the model/bride then it might be worth adding a vignette instead and comparing the two. If the reason was to lose some of the detail of the stone then it would probably be better to move the model out from the wall a little and use a large aperture to create a shallow depth of field. Having said that, I like how the detail/texture of the wall contrasts with the skin and dress of the model. Apart from the blurring, I like the set – my favourite probably being the second from last.
Would you recommend the course?
mylesrantsParticipanteven though im not fond of too much posing
the first pic is very strong and i like the edit work
rest good but the last one the broken background takes away from itwell done
kvnbrdrckParticipantJust a thought, but brides like their dresses (apparently), so I think the blurring might
lose detail that they are looking for/invested in. Nice shots though, like second last one.pandrews2000ParticipantHi guys thanks for your comments. kvndrdrck I was thinking the same about the issue of losing detail in the dress. The reason for the bluring was to try create a fairytale sort of dream effect. If I was being paid to photograph a weddimg I would for sure mix the styles and ask the couple before hand what they would like.
I appriaciate all of the comments, as I posted these photos to get feed back and learn from the comments made and try and improve.
mrnevin2001ParticipantTry and work as much as you can without photoshop, their is to much processing done on digital now adays and it stands, try and think as if you were using film,
Punk RockMemberHelenParticipantHi pandrews
I was really interested to see your shots as this is a course I wouldn’t mind doing myself (sometime)
I loved the second last shot, for me it has a lovely romantic feel to it.
However, seeing as I was a bride myself (albeit over a decade ago) the other posters are correct in that the ladies do invest a lot of time effort and funds into the dress and the bling bling and like to see it reflected in their shots.
Well done on your first wedding shots and I have you have many more to come.
