Poxed this while waiting for fox cubs this evening. Not great but a first attempt. 1Ds II, 300mm F/4, f-7.1, iso 200, 1/800. MJ

Pretty damn good effort MJ. You must have got dizzy trying to line
them up for a shot – I find it hard even to get the bins on them, let
    alone a camera.

Great shot – I have trouble keeping small flightless birds in view! :D

    Were you pre-focused on this?
Any tips on how you managed to pull this off?

    Well done!

Excellent. Looks like a male. I’ve given up trying to shoot them. The local reserve is packed with them but getting them in frame, let alone a shot, is hard enough.

I was looking at the excellent snail shots in the macro section yesterday and thinking ‘now these are the kind of wildlife I will be able to keep up with’. You seem to have gone to the other end of the spectrum from a speed point of view – hats off for getting this with anything resembling reasonble sharpness.

Cheers for all the feedback folks. I was waiting for a fox cub to do it’s thing and I just poxed this while messing around. With a bit of forethought and a fast lens on a bright day I reckon one could do alot better.

Very nice shot, I have few Swallows that visit the garden regularly but as said above they move very quickly. From your comment above you seem to be setting yourself a challenge.

MJ can’t wait for the shots that you are taking seriously as with all the above excellent capture.

Excellent shot. Little beggars are almost impossible to keep up with.
    Definitely one for the book…
