What point and shoot digital to get for daughter?

Okay, so I’ve a question for you (and probably one you haven’t heard too often):
We got our daughter (she’s only 4!!) a digital camera for her birthday – it’s horrendous though! It’s one of those kids’ cameras that has an LCD where you can’t see anything on even with great imagination… it’s only 1.5 mega pixels so picture quality is about a third – if even – of that of my mobile phone =( For the price it was, I expected a lot better, I have to say – it didn’t do exactly what it said on the tin, so to speak… I mean, we didn’t expect perfect quality, but more than it does, in any case!
Anyway – we’re thinking of getting her a proper digital camera as she’s mad into taking pictures and disappointed when they don’t come out right. I looked at this series: Olympus Stylus SW – but they look quite expensive.
Anyone an idea of which camera to get? Something not over the moon expensive and userfriendly so a child – literally – can use it?

Well the this kind of cameras are not suppose to be for childs, but i would say pentax cameras are very user friendly and very very good quality, i have the pentax option 555 and its a brilliant machine.
nfl-fanParticipantI was just reading camera recommendations over at Ken Rockwell’s site:
http://www.kenrockwell.com/tech/recommended-cameras.htmHe tips the Canon A580 as “Cheapest Great Digital Camera”.
Some people might think you’re mad to be buying a 4 year old a camera but I think it’s a great idea. My young lad inherited an old Olympus P&S from me and gets great enjoyment from it. Good to start them out young… just manage them with the camera otherwise it gets lost or broke quite easily.
RamonaMemberThanks a million to both of you for the replies! Must say, I like the sound of that canon one – though maybe the A570 as that has image stableized zoom… must discuss with my other half!
And yes, I have been called mad, but I don’t see what’s wrong with furthering her interest and I’m never really happy when she uses our eos 350d or 20d (even when mounted on a tripod and we’re not further than a foot away, I get nervous of her accidentally knocking them over!)
Thanks again!!
