Hi all. Am new to this and this is my third attempt to post a topic and upload a photo!! AAAAAGGGHHHHH. I have fingers crossed that NFL-FAN’s tip in another forum will work. I have enjoyed browsing the site and picking up a few tips along the way. I hope I might get some serious c & c on these photos if they interest any one…
…Photos are from a recent community clean-up in Tallaght. I was trying out my new canon 40D and 17-85mm lens.
Many thanks,
Brian
Liam2673ParticipantHi there,
Firstly, I am not a serious photographer and couldn’t comment on the technical/mecahnical aspects of how the photo was processed etc….
In my view, they are good attempts, the photo of the Gardai is a well proportioned profile, and I like their expressions, they seem to be relaxed but vigilant, keeping a good eye out for any trouble on the horizon (as a good garda should!!!). The shots of the graffiti have a more interesting subject matter, however I would have taken them differently, I would have gone much closer, for example on the train I feel there is far too much of the surrounding wall, I would have zoomed right in on the painters head and back, and possibly only capturing the front half of the train…..for the second, I would have zoomed in much closer again, not allowing the skyline or top of the wall into the photo…..it is good to get peoples faces into the photos, a side profile of the face of the girl painting, with some of the graffiti, is something I might have looked for….also, you have taken them all from a standing position, which is works well, but it can also be interesting for example to take the photo from a kneeling position, staying as close to the ground as possible…..I think a photo looking upwards towards the train and the painter might have worked well also. thats just my own opinion….
marlaymanParticipantThanks Liam. Much appreciated. Think your right. I’ll have to get braver and get closer!!
