Maybe a little overdramatic in the title, but…

    bigger here…

Excellent… a great depiction of a fearless man willing to take on whatever nature throws at him.

Shame about the pole, would be nice if that could disappear, kinda grabs the attention a little too much becoming a distraction.

Wonder how this would also look with a moody, gnarly B+W conversion? Just something that springs to mind… not sure if there a lot of colour to work a good B+W but the idea start floating around in my head the minute I spotted this.

    Very good work…

in the next shot of the series, the pole is half gone, but the wave itself loses impact I think and the surfers stance isn’t as clean as the first shot

I prefer the first, and sort of like the stiff straight pole clashing with the random chaotic fury of the wave, with the surfer somewhere in between!

Yep… #1 is the better of the bunch. The stance in #2 isn’t as assuring and powerful.

Great capture! Defo number 1 although I’d be tempted to use some of the detail in the other wave to bring back some of the lost highlights. Very rough edit below.

Excellent image Andy. Outstanding timing on your part.
    Well done…

    Rob.

Excellent shot and great timming :) Would of been nice to see the top of the wave, if it had been taken portrait style from near the ground maybe ?

Great shot, really captures the power……….Was he walking backwards in the second shot? I would be :D

The first one is fantastic! Personally I agree with nfl-fan regarding the pole. I think it takes a little from the surfer. The detail in the wave is great though and your timing is extraordinary. Is there a third shot in the series? With the surfer running back toward the camera?!

As it was said above, you should work a bit more on the lost highlights and maybe try to clean up that pole from there… this image is a potential contest winner…

Wow!! Fantastic. The pole almost balances the two ‘bowing’ objects to the right… Brightness ahead of him makes him look like he’s taking his last walk towards the light!!! Great timing and planing!!

excellent shot – do waves crash like that regularly there?…(wherever there is)

I quite like the pole myself.

and…what did the surfer do next?

    Hi andy

I took the liberty of editing your shot with the view of removing the pole. This is by NO means a professional edit but just to give everyone an idea.
    Hope you don’t mind…

    regards
    John
