not sure if I chose the right section for these, but…
The new Nikons (d300 – d3) come with picture control settings, I think the cameras come set in the default “neutral” setting. For my taste I had to turn the contrast and saturation down a notch from that.
Tonight I decided to see how saturated and contrasty I could get the out of camera JPGS. So, I set it to 11. “vivid” with saturation + contrast to max.
Here’s the results. Nothing fascinating, but I was surprised how much punch you can get strait out of the camera.

on a macro note – the nikon 105vr was used, an sb800 was set in a softbox and fired remotely.
