    It is not a bad shot at all, I’ll have to look out for these flower, I haven’t seen a lily like that.

    My biggest comment would be something that I’m sure you already thought of, the top is chopped off. For such a vertical flower a composition with the camera turned so that the long side is vertical would be better, I think, in any case not chopped at the top.

    You have a good depth of field, although it may be better if it was a bit deeper, to bring out more of the texture of the white part, but you may have got it spot on.The background is nicely blurred.
    Whatever way you saved the image for the web (did you use Photoshop’s “save for web and devices”?), you removed the Exif data, which records your camera settings.
    For a beginner it is good to leave that in the photo so that people can see your settings and may have a suggestions on trying different settings.

    I think it would be very good with a vertical composition.

    Thanks Martin, yeah i was aware i chopped off the top. I have loads more of this flower in a vertical view. I took the image from Flickr but i will put up the settings in future….good advice!! Thanks
