WOW as for the first post you are incredibly lucky to get this kind of shot… with a little bit of adjustments this could be framed on your wall… nice
aoluainParticipantWelcome to PI,
It sure is a lucky shot, right place at the right time!
Nicely framed.
kenhParticipantWe don’t do gentle – just honest

lousyParticipantFirst post=very good. You did very well with this and right place right time again.
Well done and welcome to the site,.
PatbingbongbiddleyParticipantThe rainbow looks a bit fake to me, the way the colours continue under the horizon.
daffParticipantThanks for your positive replies. I was fishing on Brandon Pier, the rainbow appeared & I was lucky I had the camera in the car. I fish there often & rainbows are a rare occurance. I took other shots of the rainbow rising from the horizon behind the yacht. Unfortunately my (F) hard drive is on the blink & when i get it sorted I will post same. Regards, daff.

Thanks for your reply. I dont understand what you mean by “a bit fake”. Can you advise me how I should have taken the picture so that the rainbow would not look “a bit fake”

Regards, daff.I can see where bingbogbiddley is coming from. I am by no means an expert on how rainbows are formed and what they look like but I think what he was getting at is that the rainbow seems to continue over the water as opposed to appearing from the water if that makes sense. it looks as if it has been photoshop’d in or drawn onto the image…
I think it is a great shot and framed beautifully. Fake rainbows or real ones
bearloirParticipantPD_BARBSParticipantExcellent shot, welcome to the forum. You should be pretty proud of this one for a first post.
Nice One
Alan RossiterParticipantIt’s a good first one.
For those doubting Thomas’ among us try this – go out with a fine spray gun on a sunny day with the sun behind you. Spray, and see if the rainbow stops at the place you’d expect it to if you were to take an image. Rainbows don’t start/stop at hard objects – they appear in the atmosphere.
Alan.
