Hi Everyone,
This is one of my favourites and I’d love some feedback! It was on an open farm when we were on holiday last year in Co Clare and I couldn’t resist :)
 Nice picture. Looks a little bit unsharp or something. That might be something to do with resizing for the web maybe. The background is well blurred and the colours are nice and vibrant. Brought a smile ot my face anyways…. Always a good thing with a picture.
Thanks Martin, Aimee, MDCPhotography and b318isp for the feedback :)
Have you resized first and then sharpened?
To be honest I can’t remember – would that make a difference? Normally I would go into lab colours, choose lightness, apply sharpening, go back to RGB, then resize… but I did this one some time ago and probably did it differently then…
After resizing, try a gentle unsharp mask. Slide in from low to high and stop when you have just enough.
SteveD gives a bit of a tutorial on it somewhere – I’ll try to find it.
Always sharpen last to preserve detail. If working from the original, resize to a new file name depending on what you intend to do with the puicture (e.g. printing, web display, etc.). Do your tweaking, and when happy, sharpen last and save. I tend to crop first (and see what this does to the histrogram), adjust/use layers, resize and then sharpen.
