Canon 5D Pro Kits

  • Hi there,

Have been looking around to purchase a Canon 5D with 24 – 105 lens both in store & from the internet. Noticed some Pro Kits for sale through Ebay – 5D body, 24 – 105 lens, 100 – 300 lens, macro & wide angle converters, filter kit, flash, hard case, soft case, tripod x 2, 8G memory card, card reader – all for €1800 or so from UK dealers with 3 year warantees. Does anyone have any advice or experience with anythng like this? It all sounds too good to be true – which is making me a little suspicious.

Thanks in anticipation for your replies

    Regards

Bought a new 5D body through a UK dealer on ebay a coupla months ago for about €1200…roughly half the price of store bought here.
Had one minor glitch with the LCD screen, display began to look posterised on one shoot about a month ago when herself was using it to photograph a wedding.
All the captures were fine, which was her major worry.
Meant to leave it in to be looked at that week but stuff happened and I forgot.
Been using it a fair bit since and the issue hasn’t happened again.
I’ll leave it in after the hols, just for a check up, but it’s under warranty so i’m not really concerned.

I use eBay allot. As long as the person (preferably as shop) has ALLOT of feedback and no less than 98% you should be safe. Just read through their feedback comments as well to give you an idea.

I’ve never had any problems, bought over €8000 worth of Camera Equipment on eBay (around 2 years ago) I have 150 + feedbacks on eBay 100% (I choose my buyers carefully).

If you’re concerned, PM me with the item number & I’ll have a look at the seller for you & give you my opinion.

    Good advice.
Feedback is key and gives a buyer insight into their past performance.
I too used e-bay a lot and no problems.

In conjunction with the sellers feedback/history:

Only pay with Paypal… never send cash, cheques, money orders etc (eBay also recommend that you do this).

Ensure that Paypal provide Buyer Protection in excess of the value of the item on the auction.

Only have the item sent via trackable and insured mail. Ask the seller to supply you with the track and trace id.
