Anyone here used a Zigview?

Just wondering if anyone here has tried one of these? Looks interesting at least. I wonder how well they work?

I had the origional zigview but it got damaged and Conns Cameras replaced it free of charge (thats the plug over) with the Zigview S2.
The S2 is a better piece of kit as you can detach display and using an extension cable accessory you can trigger and view what your camera sees from a distance.The sensor triggers I find do not give you a quick enough response time to capture a bird flying or bee on a flower for instance.http://www.speedgraphic.co.uk/prod.asp?i=16880
It looks great. I’m surprised they aren’t more well known.

I remember checking them out about a year or so back and thought it was very expensive for what it did.

I sort of agree, they are not cheap and I have had one on my gadget list for a while now ….. but … like anything its how you use it .. I started to lust after one after seeing a series of street moments and other images taken in bars of an old man reading the paper, couples kissing and things like this .. the photographer at the time said that he found he could take lots of pictures like this because it was very less intrusive than puttng the camera to you eye, and more acurate than shooting from the hip ;)

Agree with the comments that Lorraine mentioned. You need to “want one” more than just another piece of equipment in your bag ,never used. Candid shots now thats a great idea.

Agree about the benefits. I still have a little carry around camera – Canon A620 – which has one of those screens that flip out
and swivel. They are great for taking shots without holding the camera up to your eye. Also great to take low down shots without
having to get down flat on the ground.Now what really would be on my shopping list is a compact camera (with a flip out & swivel screen) that would give quality similar to that of say a 40D.
Pretty pleased with it.
Consider this.
put telephoto on camera, Hold camera across the crook of your arm as if resting it while lining it up on subject.
Using zigview with cable it looks like you are checking mobile phone while you are composing shot.
Pressing zigview button focuses and then shoots.Now what really would be on my shopping list is a compact camera (with a flip out & swivel screen) that would give quality similar to that of say a 40D.

Have you considered the Canon G9 ?? top specs and ideal for what you want. I had a G5 for my first digital camera and the quality was surperb.

I remember once lusting after a G5 and the G3 before it. Never owned either one. Both are almost as close as you will get to a classic digital camera (if that is not a contradiction!)
Thing is – and shame on Canon. They have not really built on that platform. G7 and G9 as far as I can determine have not really lived up to expectations.
G7 didn’t do raw files although that is back on G9. Tilt / swivel screen is no longer a feature. And worst of all the G9 is reported to have noisy images if used at anything higher than 100 ASA(don’t mean to change topic on this thread)
