If the weather behaves itself this weekend the Festival of World Cultures
is on in Dun Laoire and surrounding areas, it is usually a great photographic
feast and good fun, loads of things to do do and see for family and photographers
with fantastic food fairs……….all we need is a bit of sun! Starts Friday through
Sunday, I believe there are to be sand sculptures this year down near Sandycove.

How’s the parking locally? Probably be easier to get the Dart out i guess?

Might try and make it out Saturday or Sunday since I missed it last year.

Most of the public parking areas will be free of charge, but if you dont get there EARLY
I would imagine it would be impossible to find a spot, if you are near a Dart that would
by far be the easiest way to go. I didnt know earlier that they were looking for volunteer
photographers to cover the events, would have meant back stage passes to everything
apparently they had such a good response they will have enough for next year!!

Heading down there now in a few minutes.
Was there most of the day yesterday for the setup.
The 3D art and sand sculptures were already well started at that
    time.

Tread carefully with this crew next year, if you decide to put your name forward as their terms are a little unjust towards photographers in my opinion. You would have been scheduled to shoot at certain headline events, and at those, only the appointed photographer was allowed to shoot. Other events you’re free to also snap.

But, that aside… jeez wasn’t it wet! Thank God for the sun on Sunday (hehe great day for sun – Sunday – oh the irony  ). Lots of great stuff going on as always. Have always enjoyed this festival, it’s very well organised overall and has plenty to go, see, do, eat, buy. I think this year had more than ever before free stuff going on. You won’t be bored and if you go with the smallies, they’ll be tired out for sure ;)

Sand sculpture still pretty much intact this morning as I walked the dogs – without the camera!
Umbrella looked as if a mouse had nibbled its edge and the poor woman has her nose lost!
Dogs have done their bit at the bottom but still I think it would have been a quirky pic with chewed umbrella and no nose.
Or even a zoom on the hairdo or pattern of the unbrella.
So a week later all intact except above, WHAT kinda sand IS IT? Industrial sand with a tweek of glue.
Some one else doing an installation of gelatine at Sandycove harbour, dont know when but Very soon, if not over. Its an 8am start on a saturday, that I do know.
