Another thing about your non IS – if you do us a lens with IS, turn it off – it tries to counteract the panning movement and won’t let you do a good job.
Very good photos, and with the kit lens panning is not easy. As Alan said there is a lot of sky in them, but no much you can do about that with a 18-55mm.

I didn’t know either – I didn’t read it anywhere but I did try to pan at a MotoX recently and nothing came out as I wanted – I just assumed it would be the IS as this does try to counteract movement – makes sense really. The next time was far more successful.
