i like the last shot most because of the over the shoulder effect(the sneeky shot), the guy on the bike in #3 is a very close friend of mine, and won all three of his races

I like the second one but not the editing and its unfortunate that his head is cut off. Less time spent on your borders would free up time to improve your editing IMO.

I agree, Borders are not even suited to this style and IMO take away from it.
Saying that the pictures have a lot of promise and I’d def bet that your next set will be even better.

Like the first one. Is that at the big tabletop jump at Desertmartin?

(The second thick black border does seem a bit overpowering)

Used to do loads of MX photogaphy about 5 years ago. I used to love it up at Desertmartin. It’s a great track and not as much of a mudbath as alot of the others when the rain kicks in. The track at Donemana (just outside Newbuidings on the way to Derry)has a couple of class jumps for taking photos at – but it’s not the best background in the world. Ballykelly (Beyond Derry heading out the road towards Limavady) doesn’t have the biggest jumps but with a bit of creativity you get some amazing pics.

There’s a great hardpack track over by Newry who’s name completely escapes me. You can get some brilliant shots at it and I think I’ve seen a few pics on here taken at that track. With the hardpack there’s alot less sand chucked up which is good for your equipment but not so good for giving a sense of speed. They get way better air on that track though.

If you want to know where the races are check out http://www.mraireland.com/
If the weather has been anyway dodgy leading up to the races, make sure you check the night before and the morning before you leave that the races are still going ahead.

When I was covering the races I was on good terms with the MRA and covered the races for a local bike mag so didn’t have any bother getting access. But you really shouldn’t have any hassle getting in to the smaller races. For most tracks, they pretty much let you in around the track if you’re taking photos-just use the head a bit though. I’ve seen marshalls telling spectators to get out of certain areas of the track and when I go to move from the spot they tell me, it’s fine! But to be honest the barriers and tape are there for a reason. If a bike goes out of control you can do without your head being the thing that stops a bike!

If you start getting published in the paper/mags you should have no hassle getting a pass. The worst case scenario is you pay £10 entry to see a great days racing. The British Chmpionship is well worth going to. Some of th eyouth racing is worth a lok too. The BYMX (British Youth MotoX) round is mind blowing, especially when you see these 10year olds getting off their bike who’d put most adults to shame on a bike!

Mind your gear doesn’t get splashed with mucky water!
