Just wondering. They say that Padraic O’Bama will mop up the Irish vote.

Yep, the brother in the USA started emailing me about Obama about year back.

Brother’s been over there for nearly 15 years now.
He’s always been a Democrat and so’s his wife who’s american.
They’re east coasties (upstate NY), and the battleground states tend to be more in the rust/bible belt…or where you’ve a brother who can rig things for you.

I think the republicans have blown it.
The apointment of Palin may have knocked Obama off the front pages for a while, but it smacks of desperation to me.

    Well since ya asked Pete~~
I am here…and so are my relatives…. as they have been for a long time now.
Here is a quick snap of me..taken by me..displaying the credential that allowed me the amazing privilege of watching Senator Obama make his nomination acceptance speech here in my town. It was a wonderful day and if anyone is interested a few other documentary photos from Mile Hi Stadium they are on my flickr linked below, Beware..they are not masterpieces…for me..photography that day was very secondary.

Denverdoll, had a look at your flicker, bet it was a great day.
Keep the pics it was an historic day, one to tell the grandkids about and you have the PICTURES.
I can’t see how Obama could lose.

    Thanks Nollaig!

It was a great day..no better way to describe it. I do have many photos of the day. Photography is such a precious medium.

I have lots of (2nd) cousins in the US, all brought up in South Boston and all blue collar, union, dyed-in-the-wool Democrats.
I lived in Boston myself for a spell.
I haven’t spoken to any of them this year but from what I know of them I would say Obama would not be their “type of guy”.

I was talking to an Irish American at Paddy Foleys bar here recently he said he always voted Democrat but this time it would be McCain. I felt his reasons were vague, considering Hillery’s and Obama’s policies are pretty much the same.

Some peoples minds are closed but hopefully they will come through for Obama. Bono tells a story of MLK being very wary of the Kennedys because they were Irish and Irish were not considered to be friends of Africa Americans, but he was surprised.

I’m routing for Obama, but after closely following the last two elections I have a bad sense of foreboding.
