KOOD filters
-
GizzoParticipant
hi folks!
I was looking for a series of filters (ND grad) and I came across the KOOD. Apparently they’re compatible with the Cokin system…. anyone knows this brand and recommends them?
http://www.kood-international.com/pages/filtersq.htmlthanks!!!
GizzoParticipantOk, apologies.
I guess, now like Bart Simpson I will write on the blackboard “I will not bother PI forum without previously having used the _search_ button”:(
GizzoParticipantok, just a quick question.
I am looking for a set of GND.
now on Ebay I see the Kood pro 100 light & dark grey grad filters.
Are them any good?
I am a little bit confused between the different grads.
ND2 for cokin, 0.3 for Lee and light grey for kood.
are they the same thing???thanks!!!!
Alan RossiterParticipantIt’s the first time I’ve seen an argument on a thread where there was only one contributor!!
Hope you get what you’re looking for…if you can ifnd out what that is. ;-)
BallymanParticipantI’d steer clear of anything that mentions grey/gray in the title for a filter.
They give off a horrible purple tinge throughout the photograph and it gets progressively worse the more filters you add. This is on for normal ND filters as you can adjust the white balance to compensate but for ND Grads, only half the photo has the tinge thus it’s much more difficult to fix.
I have cokin filters and they are a piece of crap. If you can afford to splash out then get the Singh Rays or Lee’s. I think the Singh Rays will fit the cokin holders as well. not sure about the Lees though.
Maybe someone else can help?
GizzoParticipantAlan, not a big problem, I have strange questions maybe written in strange english.. I think this keeps off most of the people ;)
Ballyman, ok the “grey” thing made me think as well.. I can’t afford the Lee’s therefore I will try to buy a set of HiTech… maybe there are better than the Cokin!
cathaldParticipantGigi PDBarbs has been using the HiTech filters perhaps he can let you know what they are like
I use the cokin filters myself and they are just ok,cant afford a set of Lees at the moment but they are on the list.Cathal
GizzoParticipantmarkst33ParticipantI have the Cokin “P” size. So whats teh equivalent size in Singh Rays or Lees filters called ?
darraghParticipantAvoid the Kood filters, they have a really bad magenta cast.
Singh-Ray filters fit in the Cokin P system, Lee do make some filters for Cokin P but they are hard to come across.I have used Kood, Cokin, Lee and Singh-Ray and I prefer the Singh-Rays but I haven’t found anybody who stocks them in Europe.
Singh-Ray or Lee filters are expensive but you’ll waste the same amount buying crap as buying the good ones up front
Darragh
BallymanParticipantHas anyone any idea where you can buy Singh Ray filters that fit Cokin adaptors? Online preferably.
markst33Participantebay seems to be the only place other than direct from singh ray themselves http://www.singh-ray.com/grndgrads.html
darraghParticipantOrder directly from Singh-Ray, most of their filters are made to order.
They custom made me a polarizer in 2 days and shipped to Miami when I was there on holidays.
The only issue would be the import duty.Darragh
markst33ParticipantImport Duty ? Do they really stop filters and charge you the difference. How do they determine what you owe if you can’t buy the product in Ireland ?
