Advice on B&W / Colour printi paper

Hi all, apologies in advance for asking this question, I’m sure it’s been asked many times before. I am looking to print black and white, and also colour photos.

In your opinion, what is the best paper to use for each, and where can I get it? I’m looking for very good quality prints.

    Many Thanks,

    Keith..

    What printer?
    What size?
    Glossy/matt?

Hi Bertie, I will be using the epson r2400, and will proably go for 8×10″, I assume Matt for the b&w, and glossy for the colours shots.

    Thanks,

    Keith..

Try Hahnemühle for the fine art matt papers – they have quite a selection, thought
some of them are very heavy.
I quite like Ilford Galerie for glossy – but there is a wide choice.
Alternatively, use Epson’s own papers – many well regarded, but
what doesn’t seem to be a good idea is to use Canon or Hp papers
in an Epson – or in fact any major printer makers papers in anothers
    machines.

Some people prefer glossy for B/W, and matt for colour; but it’s your call.

    Hi Keith,
Most surfaces will be good with B&W, but the one I like is PermaJet’s “Fibre base (FB)” paper – It really is the nearest thing to traditional Fibre base paper you can get. There are a couple of options, including a Warm tone base. Did I mention we stock it??
