cathaldParticipant
Hello folks as this year is running out fast i was just wondering about meetups for next year
I went on three weekends this year and and one next week and enjoyed them so much i was wondering about next year
Perhaps we can get a list up of possible places we could visit for a weekends drinki…sorry photography
I dont mean heading to alaska like them other jammy gets but somewhere around our own fair isle
For any new members to the site you should go on one of these trips as they are superb
We even have a few who think they can play music……Well they are not to bad after 8 guinness.LOL
So any ideasCathal
gregorParticipantI wonder if it would be possible to organize one weekend somewhere and join that together with some photoshop works in the evening maybe some slideshows with photos of some of the members.
Just wondering.cathaldParticipantSeeing as i started this i will put up my own place of interest
Arranmore island Co Donegal
Was there about 15 or more years ago and have never got back
The one thing i remember was when i asked the barman what time was closing time he replied ”about september”Cathal
NollaigParticipantAs I live in Galway, I would like to suggest the Aran Islands.
Ocean, rocks, birds, stone age forts, boats, characters in the pub, the isolation and tranquility of
the place lending to the creative process …… need I say more!
However, what time of year is without dull light and rain is something I am unable to predict.
That’s where the indoor shots of the characters comes into play!
NollaigMartinParticipantClare Island is on my list as well as the Aran Islands. Also like Gregors idea “maybe some slideshows with photos of some of the members. “ If we could get a digital projector and a laptop we could show pictures over a few drinks. Say if a group of people showed say 20 of their favorite pictures that they have taken and gave some info on them etc…
ExpresbroParticipantWell the characters would be a lot more attractive to me than the birds and the rocks and the scenery..although I do appreciate that as well.
Would love to visit a real rural environment and preferably somewhere were I wouldn’t feel like an invading virus on legs…;-)
I know from sets of shots posted by Martin and a few others that the Puck Fair would be something I’d love to visit next year.
jessthespringerParticipantSpent a day in Milltown Malby (I hope the spelling is correct) a couple of years ago, there was some sort of Irish music festival on, thought it was class, had a few drinks in an old pup,[edit, I had a few drinks in an odl pub] no draught beer or coors light or any of that jazz, was bottles of stout and harp and John Power whiskey. Would love to go back there.

The Balinasloe horse fair is on from the 4th – 12th October 2008. I might be going down on the 11th for the day. Its a great day out very similar to the Puck fair. If a few are interested in going down from PI let me know ….. some pics below from it last year that i took

MarkKeymaster– Wicklow mountains
– Anywhere in Kerry
– Wouldn’t mind a weekend trip to somewhere like Berlin or ScotlandjessthespringerParticipantWarrenpoint, Blues on the Bay festival, last w’end in May, great music, no issues with access, great people and great craic.
Achill.
Madra RuaParticipantA couple of weeks ago darragh and myself have been talking about organising a PI Whale Watching trip off the Cork coast.
I didn’t really have time to follow up on this yet but I am at the 2nd IWDG International Whale Conference this weekend and I think I will ask a few questions there.

PD_BARBSParticipantIsle of Skye is a must, go there in the Early spring when the snow still caps the hills. I have seen some beutiful shots from there.
DenverDollParticipantMartinParticipantYea Scotland’s a great place. Spent a week there in April hillwalking and taking pics.
Only problem with Scotland is the weather, if you get good weather its an amazing place other wise its a dreadfull place. More often that not the weather ain’t too good… We were very lucky weather wise
Some of the pics from the Apil 2008 trip are at the below link
