Irish ballooning championships

The Irish hot air balloon championship is on all this week in Waterford, and is a pretty spectacular event – if anybody’s around, I’d recommend checking it out, there’s info about launches here. I’m just getting round to sorting through a mound of images at the moment, and will post some more as I get through them, but here’re a few to start with (bigger versions on Flickr – click on the images):

Have to agree with Noel here John, the first is a stunning image, as are the rest – but this is the most impressive for me..Great colours – I like angle you have shot this from and the way the light shining through the balloon has created a silhouette of a man walking standing inside.

that first shot really tells a story … as do the others to a lesser extent ,

Thanks all! It really is spectacular, at the moment the seem to be launching from People’s Park in Waterford tonight, and there’s a “night glow” where they’re going to fire up the balloons in time to music on the quays at 9 or 9:30.
I’ve a bunch more from last night, I’ll post more as soon’s I get round to processing them.

8)Agree, 1st one is a classic shot. Well done one of my fav pics I have seen in while. Would be nice to see this a bit bigger on here though
