    POITIN66,

I’m afraid I’ve found it to be a little like that here too POITIN66. Sometimes images get 2 to 3 pages of comments that aren’t deserving of them, depending on who posted them. It made me give up on this forum a little bit which is sad. On the flip side I can see people posting pics looking for C&C and its duely given and appreciated where people have ots of postive input. It’s the nautre of the beast. It’s easier to say negative things than positive things.

I’m guilty too of looking at some amazing images and not commenting. It’s the nature of forums.

I like the images, knowing they are in a MX context but feel they are a little over processed to look on the soft side.

Personally I don’t comment on Kid pictures unless they are very good and have that something unique/special about them. These are just average, there is nothing special about them in my opinion

I used to like the People section here but there are far to many people in the last 12 months posting the “look at my little darling” type pictures. Tell me he/she is just great and so adorable. This i think is part of the reason why the quality in the people section has gone down and why nobody is commenting on your pictures but I could be wrong.

It can be annoying having lots of views and no comments but at the end of the day its what you think of the picture that you captured that matters….

I agree with Martin to a point but I know personally, as my interest is in baby and kids photography, my most available model was my daughter so i did post a few of her before i started to take photos of other kids and I found that the C&C i got was quite helpful in terms of composition and PP.

People photography is quite hard to comment on because it is such a broad scope and a lot of people, including myself are sometimes hesitant to comment in case it is your child and the critique might be deemed as a personal attack on your genes! :)

And for the actual photos on this post, i think the PP is a bit much with the glow or blur, not to my taste but as Martin said, it’s what you think that counts.[/quote]

People will comment on pictures if they find something interesting about them.

what im trying to get across is not people didnt give me good comments i couldnt give a toss about good comments, but from 85 views at least a comment of some sort good or bad would be helpfull after a while if this keeps up people will stop posting saying whats the point, sorry if people don`t like my views, but im on four other large international fourms and it don`t take much to leave a small comment

if you look at it this way, there are almost 2500 members on this forum. yet you only see maybe 10% of those people regularly replying/posting. so there are a load of people out there who just like to lurk. maybe they don’t feel they have anything constructive to say or don’t feel confident sharing their opinion.

don’t get me wrong, i’m not being argumentative but as someone said, it’s the nature of the beast.

ok i agree but to be fair the other forms im in have 5000 plus members and if i compare the look to comment raito this site is lazy people only seem to comment on the the main players which to me is eletteism, probabally spelt wrong, i am Irish and i do live in Ireland but i will probabally stay away from this site as i dont think i can learn from this site or contribute to this site, it just reminds me of the fuji site

Funny enough I had the same discusion with somebody the other day, where it seems to the same people replying to the same peoples post. Which can be frustrating, when you are learning and you want feedback one way or the other. However, there are only a few regulars on here and some people make a great effort to respond to people and provide some excellent advice.

The question I also asked myself, is how many threads have I opened and said I can’t be bothered. The answer would be quite alot, so it is something we are all guilty off, so maybe if we open an image and find it is boring or just crap we should say so (in a nice way).

I saw these images and didn’t comment. So before we make assumptions of elitism, racism, laziness or ignorance maybe it would be prudent to ask why some don’t post on each image that gets posted here. Let me answer for me.
I didn’t reply because they’re average…not bad, not awe inspiring, just average. You’ve done nothing wrong but I wouldn’t expect to see them winning awards. So, how would you like me to explain that to you? It’s like ringing up a poll and saying you have no opinion…pointless. If it had some fault that I thought I could help with, I’d reply. If I thought this was a stunner, I’d reply. But it’s average.
I log on all day in work. I have a peek every so often to see what’s new. I apply the above criteria to comment. You can take it that with no comments but plenty of views are not reflections of your quantity of posts, your standing in the community, your location, sex, camera type or name. A lack of feedback, by its own nature is a form of feedback depending on whether your looking at a half full, or half empty glass…you haven’t presented a bad image, just one that is difficult to comment on.
To run away is probably your course at this stage but I think you’ll find that people here will help and are by in large a friendly crowd. Give it another go.

I agree with all of Alan’s post ‘cept the last line, let him cry elsewhere.
Tis far more evils out there in this world than the silent majority who won’t c n c a picture here.

    Harsh but fair.

Erm…no, that’s not what I intended or said LB. We’ve all been pissed about no replies to a thread but suggestion to walk away wasn’t part of my reply.

I dont know what you are doing to these, but it has spoiled them big time imho. Some sort of blur effect with an image overlay and increased saturation probably….?? But it should be used sparingly if at all. I just dont get it I’m afraid.
