A few from late summer

  Here are a few shots I got before the weather turned in a big way. Any comments as always very welcome. All three shots were taken with a ring flash which i am slowly getting to understand a bit!

  Common hawker dragonfly on heather – lying up during cold weather. i took a whole series of this before I couldn’t take being eaten to death by midges any more and had to run away.
  

  Snail on lavender
  

  Common darter – not entirely sure what i think about this but something to do with the texture of the abdomen and the post kind of gets me interested – any thoughts?

  Wow, these have no replies?
  That first ones savage, the detail maintained is great, not sure of the last one though,

  The first one was taken at 1:1 and is hardly cropped at all – so there would still be lots of scope for going in further without losing detail.

  Yes – i’m still undecided about the last one – though I still quite like the colour of the abdomen and the pattern of the wings against the silver of the wooden post
