The contrast in colour/terrain is great. It reminds me a bit of Egypt where the there is a narrow strip of green beside the Nile but the rest of the country is desert.
Is this a crop or just grass?

Its a crop for sure – since fertile land is so scarce, it would be used most productively, and that would be some form of crop, but am not sure which.

Nice shot. Did you do a panorama there? And depending on which country you were in, it could be wheat, barley or even opium! :)
Didn’t do any panoramas there, don’t really do them, though my sister who is a graphic designer is always at me to do them.
The background is a wider view of the shot entitled Ridge that I posted earlier.
Don’t think it is opium somehow. I would have noticed the armed guards…..
