Well it’s not me.
I like the way you’ve processed it, but the sky is a bit stark. I think it
may have been better with the bloke breaking the horizon.
Still, it’s an intriguing shot. Good work.nfl-fanParticipantCheers PeteNotTheMysteriousBeachBlokeTheOtherBlokeWithTheJesterAvatarAndNotPeterASmithEither.
Alan RossiterParticipantI’m surprised this hasn’t got more replies before now apart from the guy who twigged the bloke connection. I like this for two reaons. Firstly there’s an air of mystery…as you title it, but also it gives me ideas. I can’t help wondering what this would look like wider and without people in the background. The mystery is somewhat lost when they are there. But as it is, it’s fine too.

nfl-fanParticipantAh… Street is not landscape… so replies can be slow and few… but nothing to worry about (insert joke re: I’m a member of several international forums).
I do like it myself I must admit… not sure why… I like the path leading in and that man is very mysterious alright… you wanna see the big black sunglasses he was wearing… I was intrigued.
As for the width… well I was sporting the 70-200 at the time plus you have the dunes either side of the path, so maybe, maybe not something extra to get there.
Cheers
JMartinOCParticipantI’ll throw in a reply too, just to bump up your comment count.
As has been said on another international forum, this is very nice.
Well spotted and I think the processing adds to the mood. The mystery man and around his feet is an area of stark contrast whilst the rest of the photo has generally more graduated tonesMartin
Punk RockMemberIt reminds me of that Charlie Chaplin picture, cept this guy is obviously older.
Liam2673ParticipantGreat shot, it is one to make you think…..
as a matter of interest, his silhouette looks solid black, especially the coat…..was this due to camera setting or post processing…i.e. how was it achieved?
nfl-fanParticipantCheers for the feedback lads.
Liam: Probably a combo of the two Liam. Very, very bright sky versus very dark coat and then the B+W conversion was done in Lightroom and blacks were bumped up quite a bit. There’s probably a bit more detail in the coat in the original… but I do like the look of the processed version.
Liam2673Participantagreed, its a bright black that complements the brightness of the sky& boardwalk…..
