A quick handheld 270° panorama from Denali (Mt.McKinley) with no added photoshoppery
The two blokes on the right are Martin and Podge

The Don Sheldon Amphitheatre is a glacier filled bowl 6,000 feet high, a third of the way up Denali (Mount McKinley).
You’ll step out of the plane and onto an ice sheet nearly a mile thick.
The scale of the Amphitheatre is hard to fathom.
You’ll feel like you can reach and out touch the “nearby” peaks…until your pilot tells you they are in some cases ten miles away.

The place is named after a bush pilot who built a viewing hut here on the glacier before it became a national park.
You can stay in it for a night. It has a wood stove and 6 bunks.

In the large version you can see the outhouse that belongs to the hut on an brownish outcrop a little to the left of the centre.
Just to the right of that and a little to the left of that red marker you can see the peak of Denali / Mt.McKinley.

Viewed large the detail is stunning especially when you took it hand held.
What a beautiful place but I think you should stop posting these images from
Alaska as your driving us all crazy.

he he, no problem… once I actually spend some time doing this properly.
I only converted the 14 RAW shots to 1600 pixel images to see if I can get the merge to work correctly.
As it turned out I did and the result was so nice, I decided to share it with ye!

(BTW Did anybody notice the areas I filled in manually?)

This is amazing – when I finally worked out how to enlarge it. Looks like a magical place to take photo’s.

I hope you guys have walls long enough to do it justice.

One minor nit-pick… looks like a bit of flare or something on the extreme left. You may want to tidy that up in the final cut.
